Quick and Easy Painting Projects

What’s not to love about stepping back from a freshly finished project and admiring a job well done? The satisfaction of making your home more beautiful is a great motivator to keep on top of your to-do list, but sometimes those tasks can seem to drag out far longer than expected.

Keep Your Painting Project on Schedule

If you routinely find that your painting projects take longer than you think they should, you may want to consider if you’re taking the steps at the outset to ensure a smooth painting process. We recommend that you:

  • Gather all your materials before you start. Paint, rollers, brushes, tape, etc.
  • Make sure the area you’re painting is clean and the surface properly prepared for the best adhesion. If you’re painting a wall or ceiling, move furniture out of the way and protect your belongings with drop cloths.
  • Be ready to handle messes as they happen. Use drop cloths, painters tape, and have rags ready to clean up drips or accidental spills.

Additionally, you may want to give extra time to the early stages of picking a paint color. How many times have you been so excited about a paint color on a swatch that you ran out, purchased a gallon of paint, and had an entire room painted before you realized that it doesn’t look as great in your space as you’d thought it would? Allotting extra time to properly pick the right paint color for your project will save you a lot of time, money, and frustration.

Now that you know how to keep your painting project running smoothly, here are four quick and easy projects you can tackle around your home in a day or less!

Front Door

It is one of the first things visitors see when they come to your home, so why not have it look its best? Pick a paint color that coordinates with the existing colors of your home’s exterior, or follow one of the strongest exterior painting trends of the last few years and paint your front door in a bright, cheerful color.

Accent Wall

Have you been curious about trying an accent wall somewhere in your home? They are one of the quickest ways to experiment with color in a room without committing to a complete overhaul. Pick a paint color that works well with current decorative elements like throw pillows or drapery, or cover a wall in your favorite shade and pick out a few new decorative accessories for an entirely new look.

Ceiling

White ceilings are commonplace and expected. If you really want to make a statement in a room, changing up the ceiling color is a great way to do it. Concerned about the ceiling feeling low? Choose a color with plenty of white in it. Pale blue is a popular choice as it reminds people of the sky.

Garage Door

Maybe you don’t want to go as bright and bold with your garage door as you do with your front door, but this is an often overlooked area of your exterior that probably has seen better days. While it is bigger than your front using a paint roller after the initial cutting in makes this a quick and easy update.
