Popular Kitchen Cabinet Paint Colors for 2022

Ever considered going green?

White has been a dominant color choice for a LONG time, and for good reason. It’s versatile, classy, clean, bright, and works well with any other colors you might want to introduce. New countertops? White is guaranteed to still work. New floor color, or bright accent wall? No problem. And while some folks think white kitchen cabinets are a fad, they’re really not. For well over a hundred years it’s been an evergreen color choice, kind of like subway tile: always “in.”

That’s all still true, but we’ve definitely seen a shift recently toward green kitchen cabinets too. Today, let’s take a closer look, and we have some project photos to share with you.

Why are green kitchen cabinets popular?

We’ll get to those project pics in a minute, but first, here are the top reasons why green is so hot right now.

#1: Natural paint colors are always a winner

Green is earthy, calm, and neutral (depending on which shade you choose), known for promoting a feeling of calm. Perfect for a busy kitchen, right?

#2: So many green paint colors to choose from

Whatever your vibe, there’s a green to fit. Go dark for a classy, modern look, or swing back toward a pale mint color for a country feel. Consider your overall style to help make the best color choice so that the cabinets flow with your surrounding aesthetic.

#3: Like white, green cabinets are timeless

They may be extra popular right now, but green is NOT a passing trend. It’s here to stay, and has been a go-to choice for a long, long time.

#4: Pairs beautifully with other colors

Again, you can choose colors that really compliment your green cabinets. Black and white are both solid options, but you also can’t go wrong with natural wood finishes. There’s something about the warmth and charm of stained wood that just meshes perfectly with green cabinetry. Ever considered a butcher block counter on your kitchen island, for example? It’s a knockout!

Get inspired!

As promised, here’s a look at a recent cabinet painting project we finished. Love this soft grayish green! Specifically, it’s Benjamin Moore’s Smoke 2122-40.
